Dating photo audit

Same man. Same room. Same shirt, same phone, same afternoon. The only thing that changed is which way he was facing relative to the window. Drag the handle above — that is the entire fix.

Most bad dating photos aren't bad because of the person in them. They're bad because of five or six mechanical decisions nobody told you about. Those are measurable, and they're all fixable in an afternoon.

Audit a dating photo

Nine measurements on framing, lighting, eye contact and sharpness. Runs on your phone — the photo never leaves it.

How this works

The analysis runs inside your own browser using an on-device face model. Your photo is never uploaded, never stored, and never sent to a server — ours or anyone else's. You can turn off your wifi after the page loads and it still works.

What it measures

Nine measurements of the photograph. None of them are judgements about your face.

Who's in it

Whether there's exactly one face, so a stranger knows which person is you.

Face size

How much of the frame your face fills. On a phone card, too far away means invisible.

Lighting direction

Whether the light is on your face or behind it. This is the big one.

Eye contact

Head angle plus whether your eyes are actually visible and open.

Expression

Smile intensity, measured from the mouth landmarks.

Sharpness

High-frequency detail, so you know how it will survive the app's compression.

Exposure

Whether the frame is too dark or blown out.

Camera angle

Tilt, and whether you shot from below your own eye line.

Resolution

Whether you're giving the app enough pixels to work with.

Before & after

Twelve mistakes, fixed

Every pair below is the same person, photographed the same day. Only the mechanics change.

Common questions

Is the dating photo audit actually free?
Yes. There's no signup, no email, no credit card and no usage limit. The analysis runs in your browser, so it costs nothing to run and nothing to give away.
Do you store or see my photo?
No. The face model runs on your own device. Your photo is never uploaded to a server, never stored, and never transmitted anywhere. Once you close the tab it's gone.
Does it rate how attractive I am?
No, and deliberately so. It measures the photograph — framing, lighting, focus, eye contact, crop. Those are the things you can change. It makes no judgement about your face.
Which photo should I test?
Start with the one you use first on your profile. That photo does most of the work, and it's where a mechanical fault costs you the most.
Does it work on Tinder, Hinge and Bumble photos?
Yes. The measurements are the same across every app, though each crops differently — Tinder shows a tall card, Hinge a square, Bumble something in between.
